8th Annual BBQ at Michael Parks Workshop

Every year, this is Canada’s premiere pipe event! (Frankly, I think I’m losing count. This may even be our 9th year…) People come from near (Michael Parks) and far (everyone else, really) to congregate for a day of coffee, food, smoking, er… more smoking… talking, and copious smoking. Did we mention smoking? Oh, right; we did.

This year we’ll be serving up slow-smoked pulled pork and slaw.

Schedule

10am – Event Kick Off! Coffee will be ready; swap & sell set-up (basically, if you have something to sell/trade — or donate to the raffle — bring it along)
1pm – Lunch Served
4pm – Event Close

As you can see there ain’t much in the way of programming again this year. Come prepared to relax and enjoy yourself.

Rides

If you are able to offer a ride, please respond back with the general area(s) that you can pick people up from and space you have.

If you need a ride, please respond back with where you are located.

If we can’t hook you up with a direct ride then we will arrange to pick you up from the Oshawa Go Train station at 9:30am.

Tickets / Raffle

This event is free to all! We do have a number of donated items to raffle off, which helps offset our costs. Feel free to bring a few bucks for tickets — the odds are very much in your favour of not going away empty handed!

IPSD 2018 Smoker

I’m pleased to announce that we will be gathering in the great indoors to celebrate International Pipe Smoking Day thanks to the continuing hospitality of member Tony Hicks!

As usual, the DTPC will provide some pizza and you provide your own beverages, smokables, and selves.

Reminder: No cigars or cigarettes.

One of our illustrious members, Tony Hicks, has graciously (or perhaps foolishly) offered to host a smoker for us in the deepest, darkest depths of winter at his home. (And, gosh, he conveniently lives off the Bloor subway line — yay!)

Further details will follow in due course, but suffice to say we there will be copious amounts of smoking and good cheer! The DTPC will provide pizza and one (1) bottle of liquor.

Note: No cigars or cigarettes. Violators will be heaved out of the nearest open window.

2017 BBQ Recap

Once again, pipe smokers descended upon our annual BBQ from all parts of the GTA (and even as far as Calgary) for a day of smoking, eating, and hanging out! The weather was absolutely beautiful this year and I would guess that about 35 people managed to make it out. A big thanks to Lowell, who put a bin of what must have been well over 30 unopened, well-aged tins of tobacco up for grabs. (I didn’t have time to take a picture before the table was swarmed. I have Mike J to thank for handing me a tin of Dunhill 965 or I would have missed out myself!) A big thanks to the esteemed Michael Parks for hosting us at his workshop.
