Who we are
We are a diverse group of local collectors, tobacco aficionados, and pipe enthusiasts who gather each month (from May to October) to share in the appreciation of a good smoke while in good company. Our origins date back to 2005 when a couple of us became unexpectedly acquainted and began meeting semi-regularly for a smoke and chat. Eventually, we began reaching out to the broader community of pipe smokers, and, at the end of 2007, we made it official through the simple act of naming the club and launching this website. Although DTPC headquarters are located downtown in the Big Smoke, membership is extended to any piper who can make the meeting.
Purpose
Our goal as a club is to do all we can to promote the elevation and normalization of the most chillaxed of hobbies, pipe-smoking and tobacco appreciation. All pipers are welcome! We aim to provide an environment where everyone, from the neophyte pipe dabbler to the leather-tongued codger, feels comfortable to learn about and share in the noble hobby of pipe-smoking. Although not overtly political, we recognize that smoking has become a political act. We want Toronto’s pipe-smokers to step into the light of day and, in an age where the fare is increasingly bland, come together to show the world that pipe-smoking is a sublime way of adding to the spice on life’s plate.
